Shemica K. Maloney is the Founder and Principal of MALONEY & CO. She has a diversified legal practice with specific emphasis on corporate and commercial, conveyancing, employment, family, probate and real estate matters. Her portfolio of expertise also includes giving advice on and drafting legislation, regulations, and complex contracts of all types including leases, contracts of employment and construction contracts. Shemica prides herself on being attuned to her clients’ business objectives and unique circumstances and as such, her service to clients reflects meticulous attention to detail which ensures a seamless experience and results in client satisfaction.
Shemica obtained her Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, Barbados in 2005 and her Legal Education Certificate from the Norman Manley Law School in Jamaica in 2007. She also holds a Master of Laws degree in Legislative Drafting from the University of the West Indies, School of Graduate Studies, Barbados.
Prior to establishing MALONEY & CO., Shemica worked in the Civil Service in several capacities including Legal Advisor (Ag.), Senior Legal Counsel and Registrar of Local Companies within the Legal Department of the Nevis Island Administration where she produced exceptional work and demonstrated leadership skills. During her time in the Civil Service, she was also appointed Clerk of the Nevis Island Assembly and served with distinction and integrity in that role. After being admitted to the bar of the St. Kitts and Nevis Circuits of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court on November 9th 2007, she was employed as an Associate Attorney in a small law firm in Nevis where she honed her legal skills.
Shemica is an active member of the St. Kitts and Nevis Bar Association and has served as a member of the Bar Council from 2013 to present.
